Read something worth keeping online? Becoming takes it two ways: the exact passage you highlighted, or the whole page, for an AI model to read on your behalf.

Save a passage you highlighted

  1. Install the Becoming Chrome extension.
  2. On any web page, select the text you want to keep.
  3. Click the floating Save to Becoming button that appears near your selection.

Becoming saves your selection as a highlight, along with the page’s title and author. It saves the exact text you highlighted — nothing is paraphrased, and no AI model reads the page. Come back and save more from the same page any time.

Save the whole page

Save a page without marking anything on it and Becoming reads the page for you, keeping the passages worth remembering. That’s what happens when you:

  • click the extension’s toolbar icon with nothing selected — with text selected, it saves your selection instead;
  • share a page to Becoming from your phone’s Share menu — in Safari, Chrome, or wherever you’re reading;
  • paste a link into Integrations → Save a link in the web app.

Whichever way you save it, the article lands in your library with its full text, and the passages the model found sit on it as highlights.

AI credits

  • A passage you highlighted yourself costs nothing. No model reads anything, so there’s nothing to charge for.
  • A whole-page save costs 1 AI credit. The credit pays for the model reading the page, not for what it finds there — a page it reads and finds nothing worth keeping in still costs the credit.
  • Out of credits, the page still saves, with its full text in your library, just without highlights for now. Becoming pulls them on its own once you have credits again.
