Paste Highlights
When you already have your highlights written down — in a note, a document, or somewhere you copied them — you can paste them all into Becoming at once for a single book. You’ll see a preview before anything is saved.
This is handy when a book has no digital highlights to import, or to add passages to a book you added with Book Search.
Paste your highlights
Section titled “Paste your highlights”- In the web app, go to your Library.
- Click Add source and choose Manual highlight import.
- Pick the book these highlights belong to — Existing source searches your library, and Create source lets you type a title and author yourself.
- Paste your highlights, or upload a text file. Bullets and blank lines are the most reliable separators between highlights.
- Review the preview to check each highlight came through cleanly, then save.
What gets imported
Section titled “What gets imported”- Each pasted passage as a separate highlight on the chosen book.
- Nothing else — the title and author come from the source you picked or created.
Highlights are deduplicated by content, so pasting the same passage again never creates duplicates.
