Apple Books

If you read and highlight in Apple Books, you can bring those passages into Becoming — paste them as text or upload an exported file.

This is a one-time import, not a live sync. When you highlight more in Apple Books later, export again and upload the new file — Becoming skips anything it already has.

Export from Apple Books

1. Open Apple Books and go to the book you want.
2. Open the book’s notes and highlights view (the list of everything you marked).
3. On iPhone or iPad, use Share to send your highlights as text, then paste them into Becoming in the next step.
4. On Mac, run the Apple Books helper export to generate a Markdown (.md) file — this Markdown format comes from the helper, not a native Apple Books export — or save your highlights as a plain text (.txt) file. Save it somewhere you can find it, like your desktop.

Import into Becoming

1. In the web app, go to your Library.
2. Click Add source and choose Apple Books.
3. Paste the text you shared, or upload the .md or .txt file you exported.
4. Becoming reads your highlights, matches them to a book, and adds them.

What gets imported

• Your highlights from the exported book.
• Your notes, when they’re included in the export.
• The book’s title and author, so it lands as a Book in your library.

Highlights are deduplicated by content, so importing the same export twice never creates duplicates.
