Import Overview
Becoming brings the passages you highlight while reading into one place, so they can grow into small daily practices. Use a single source or combine several to build a rich library.

How Importing Works
Section titled “How Importing Works”- You choose a source and give it what it needs — a file, a URL, or an account connection.
- Becoming processes the import — parsing the content, extracting highlights, and matching them to their source.
- Your highlights appear in your library once the import completes.
Deduplication
Section titled “Deduplication”Highlights are deduplicated by content, so importing the same passage twice never creates a copy. Re-sync or re-upload as often as you like — only new highlights are added.
Import Status
Section titled “Import Status”Each import moves through a few states:
- Pending — queued for processing.
- Processing — currently being imported.
- Completed — all highlights are in your library.
- Failed — something went wrong. Check the details and try again.
Goodreads, Readwise, YouTube, and PDF imports run in the background, so you can keep using the app while they finish.
If an import fails, see Import Failures.
