Kobo

Kobo e-readers keep your highlights in a single database file on the device. Upload that file and Becoming reads your highlights from it. You’ll see a preview before anything is saved.

This is a one-time import, not a live sync. To bring in newer highlights later, connect the device again and upload a fresh copy of the file.

  1. Connect your Kobo to your computer with a USB cable.
  2. The Kobo shows up as a drive. Open it.
  3. Open the hidden .kobo folder (turn on “show hidden files” if you don’t see it).
  4. Copy KoboReader.sqlite to your computer.
  1. In the web app, go to your Library.
  2. Click Add source and choose Kobo.
  3. Upload the KoboReader.sqlite file.
  4. Review the preview of the books and highlights that were found, then confirm.

The preview and import happen right away.

  • Your highlights across the books on the device.
  • Your notes, when the file includes them.
  • Each book’s title and author, so they land as Books in your library.

Highlights are deduplicated by content, so uploading the file again never creates duplicates.
