Becoming has three tiers. Pick the one that fits how you want to work with what you read — you can change it anytime.

The Tiers

The Library — $4.99/month (or $49.99/year)

For remembering what you’ve read. Starts with a 7-day free trial — no card required.

Includes all import sources, your library with keyword and meaning-based (semantic) search, the Daily Review and daily email, book suggestions, and AI-assistant access (MCP) to read your library and add highlights and sources.

Comes with 150 AI credits a month for reading photographed pages, saved articles, newsletters, and video transcripts. See How AI Credits Work.

It also comes with 10 hours of new audio a month for listening: Reader can read your saved articles, newsletters, and PDFs aloud, and in the mobile app your video transcripts too. See Listen to an article.

The Academy — $6.99/month (or $69.99/year)

For acting on what you’ve read. Also starts with a 7-day free trial, with a card added during setup — you aren’t charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel before then. On the App Store, cancel at least a day before the trial ends: Apple charges within its last 24 hours. It’s one trial per account: upgrade part-way through a Library trial and you keep the days left on it rather than starting a fresh seven — and with only a day or two left, the paid plan simply starts. Everything in The Library, plus AI-generated 4-week Themes, daily Practices, automatic AI tagging of your highlights, and AI-assistant tools that can generate Themes and complete Practices.

Comes with 400 AI credits a month — Themes, plus everything the Library’s credits cover. And 20 hours of new audio a month for listening, twice The Library’s.

Founding Member — one-time payment

Lifetime Academy access, with all future features included and the Academy’s monthly AI credits and listening time. Seats are limited and it’s sold on the web — the current price is on the pricing page.

Founding Member includes everything in The Academy, for life.

Each tier’s monthly AI credit allowance is listed with the tier above. A free trial gets a one-time grant instead of a monthly allowance — 75 credits on the Library trial, 200 on the Academy trial. How credits work — what they pay for, what never costs any, and what happens when you run out — is on How AI Credits Work.

Listening time follows the same pattern, but it’s separate from credits: listening never uses any. A trial gets it once: 1 hour on the Library trial and 3 hours on the Academy trial. A paid plan’s hours reset on the 1st of each month, and unused ones don’t carry over. Only new audio counts, so listening again to something you’ve already heard is free. Listening to your Daily Review in the app draws on the same hours.

When a Trial Ends

When the seven days of the free Library trial are up, Becoming opens on the plan page until you pick a plan. Nothing is deleted: your library, highlights and notes stay with your account, and the CSV and Markdown downloads stay open in Settings — see After Your Subscription Lapses.

Becoming emails you before your free Library trial ends, in the last two days of your free week.

You can stop the emails about your free trial from the link at the bottom of any of them.
