Google Play Books
Google Play Books can export the notes and highlights from a book to a Google Doc. Once you have that document, you can bring it into Becoming.
This is a one-time import, not a live sync. When you highlight more later, export again and import the newer document — Becoming skips anything it already has.
Export from Google Play Books
Section titled “Export from Google Play Books”- In Google Play Books, turn on the setting to save your notes to Google Drive. Google Play Books writes your highlights and notes to a Google Doc.
- Open the generated Google Doc in your Google Drive.
- Choose File → Email → Email as attachment, and change the format from PDF to HTML.
- Save the
.htmlfile that gets emailed to you.
Import into Becoming
Section titled “Import into Becoming”- In the web app, go to your Library.
- Click Add source and choose Google Play Books.
- Upload the
.htmlfile (or paste the exported HTML, if prompted). The content must be HTML. - Becoming reads it, matches it to a book, and adds your highlights.
What gets imported
Section titled “What gets imported”- Your highlights from the exported book.
- Your notes, when they’re part of the export.
- The book’s title and author, so it lands as a Book in your library.
Highlights are deduplicated by content, so importing the same notes twice never creates duplicates.
