Sharing a Highlight

A passage worth keeping is often worth passing on. Becoming draws any highlight as an image card — the quote, the title and author it came from, and a background you pick — ready for a story, a message, or a post. It works the same on the web and in the app.

Look for Share wherever a highlight is on screen:

  • Daily Review — the Share button, next to Discard and Favorite.
  • The Library — on the Highlights view, the share icon on any highlight card.
  • A source’s page — the share icon on each of its highlights.
  • A highlight’s page — the share icon at the top.
  • The Reader — click (or tap) a passage you already highlighted, then choose Share.

The preview updates as you choose:

  • Style — Marker draws the quote as if highlighted on the page; Card sets it on a framed card that sits on the background.
  • Shape — Story is tall, made for stories and phone screens; Square suits a feed or a message.
  • Background — five colours: Cream, Paper, Periwinkle, Amber, and Ink.

A long passage may not fit on the card. When that happens, Becoming trims it and says so — Copy Text still gives you the whole passage.

On the web, what you see depends on what your browser can do — Becoming only offers what will actually work:

  • Share Image opens your device’s share menu, where the browser supports it.
  • Download saves the card as an image file. When your browser can’t share, this is the main button.
  • Copy Image puts the card on your clipboard, ready to paste — where the browser allows it.
  • Copy Text copies the passage as text.

In the app, Share Image opens your phone’s share sheet — send it to a friend, post it to a story, or save it to your photos — and Copy Text copies the passage.
